Since 1970, United Felts (formerly Applied Felts) has paved the way for the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining industry. We research, design, test and produce every product right here in Martinsville, VA. Our trenchless lining solutions are the result of countless hours in the field, on job-sites all over the world, produced with the highest quality materials to outperform and solve the toughest infrastructure challenges. Our commitment to excellence is evident in our stringent Manufacturing, Engineering, and 33-point Quality Assurance process. Each liner is made in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Beginning with the highest quality raw materials, our liners undergo rigorous design and testing, ensuring unmatched durability and performance when they are installed in the field.

Manufacturing Process

Raw Material

Inspection and testing of raw materials like polyester fibers, fiberglass, resins and granules to ensure superior quality for the liners.

Needling

Assembly of the loose fibers and needling them together in order to form the interlocking fibers and felt substrate.

Coating

The felt is coated via a single-pass extruded process with a polymer that ensures the liner is uniform in size and coating thickness per specification.

Liner Construction

Single and multiple layers are formed together to form a tube, each made to a specific diameter, thickness, and length per job specifications.

Wetout Process

Resin is pumped into the center of the liner, and migrates under vacuum, throughout all layers of the liner. This secondary manufacturing process is completed at one of United Felts wetout facilities across the U.S.

Transport to Jobsite

For thermally cured liners, the new liner is stacked and stored in a refrigerated truck to keep the resin from hardening during transport. For UV liners, they are stored in crates and transported to customers warehouse or jobsite for installation.

Field Installation

The liner is either inverted or pulled into the existing sewer or pipeline and is then cured using hot water, steam or UV light.
